Použitie a výhody
The benefits and advantages provided by the Zone Cabling approach are:
- Increased flexibility as the Consolidation Point Transition Cable can be changed any time and adjusted to new locations of users. This provides fast and easy Moves, Adds and Changes (MAC's). CP Transition Cable Assemblies can be stored in pre-terminated lengths (also pre-tested) what makes MAC's even faster.
- Owing to the localized topology, changes affect only one small zone at a time. For this reason the structure eliminates widespread downtime and network disruption and therefore maintaining maximum productivity
- Redundant links for future additional users or other upgrades need to be installed in the 1st step only up to the consolidation point (= less cable required than with a traditional approach).
- Application oriented - but future proof cabling possible. For example the links up to the CP can be build as Cat.6A or Cat.7A solution, what is absolutley future proof. But the CP Transition Cable can be selected according to the today's real requirement (for instance Cat.5E) and can be upgrade any time if required (= cost effective solution).
- Easy removal of abandoned cables
Typical applications for Zone Cabling Architectures:
- Open Office environments, where the final location and quantity of end-users is difficult to define from the beginning.
- High class Business Centers, where the location and office space requirement of future tenants is not known during construction, but where nevertheless a good basic IT infrastructure should be provided.
- The international Data Center standards define between HDA (Horizontal Distribution Area) and EDA (Equipment Distribution Area) a so-called ZDA (Zone Distribution Area). The ZDA is in fact a Consolidation Point, which allows fast setup of preconfigured additional racks and equipment.
- Wireless Infrastructures need connection points for Wireless Access Points (WAPs). In combination with a PoE (Power over Ethernet) deployment, each Consolidation Point can be turned into a place for network connnection and a location for power provision for WAPs as well.
- Industrial Ethernet applications require network connections out at the factory floor. The localized topology supports strategic division and relocating of connected machinery.
- Building Automation Systems (BAS) cabling standards specify a Horizontal Connection Point (HCP). The HCP is in fact nothing else than a Consolidation Point, which connects BAS devices strategically to the zone for easier maintenance and logical placement.
